Air defense systems will be installed on Ukrainian naval drones

Ukrainian naval drones will also hunt Russian aerial targets. For this, air defense systems will be installed on them.

The Defense Intelligence announced that their naval drones will also hunt Russian air targets, according to the article of “Ukrainian Pravda”.

After successfully hunting down Russian boats and ships, Magura, the developer of naval drones, plans to deploy air defense and possibly other attack systems on these drones.

“Now specialists are working on putting air defense equipment on an unmanned platform. I am not a technician, but I understand that this task is quite difficult. After all, means of target detection, capture of an aerial object, means of defeat are needed – and all this must be placed on a rather small platform. This is not an easy task from a purely technical point of view, but it is real,” commented Kyrylo Budanov, the head of the Defense Intelligence of the MoD.

According to one of the developers, the impact of the waves and, as a result, pressure drops create a large load on the drone’s structures. Therefore, it is extremely difficult to develop a stabilizer capable of absorbing such fluctuations. Without a stable platform, the defeat system will not work, because it simply will not be able to start and fire.

This work is already underway. Soon drones will be able to carry various modules for hitting all types of targets – ground, surface and air.

We will remind, on the night of March 5, the special unit of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Group 13 attacked the patrol ship of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation “Sergey Kotov”.

As a result of the attack by Magura V5 naval drones, the Russian ship suffered damage to the stern, right and left sides.
