Almost 50% of the invaders’ barges disappeared near the Crimean Bridge

Almost half of the barges installed by the Russians to protect the facility from Ukrainian attacks have disappeared from the Kerch Bridge defense line.

The number of barges that the occupiers installed in the Kerch Strait as boom barriers has halved in a month, the Center for Journalist Investigations reports.

Satellite images from November 8, 2024 showed 34 vessels in two rows on both sides of the shipping channel in the Kerch Strait, which the Russians had fastened together.

However, new photos from the Sentinel-2 satellite from December 8, 2024 show, despite the cloudiness, that 18 barges remained between Tuzla Island and the coast of the Kerch Peninsula. The whereabouts of the remaining 16 vessels are unknown.

The number of barges began to decrease around the end of November: on November 29 there were 24, and on December 3 there were about 19.

Earlier, USM reported that the Crimean Bridge is constantly guarded by at least five ships and boats of the Russian Guard, the FSB, and the Russian Border Guard.
