An agent of the special services of the Russian Federation installed cameras near the Mykolaiv port

The SBU detained a traitor who installed webcams near the Mykolaiv seaport to spy on the ships of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The intruder was gathering intelligence about the Defense Forces near the Black Sea. In the zone of special attention of the enemy were warships of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as ships of the merchant fleet of Ukraine, which export agricultural products, the SBU reports.

“In order to monitor the bases of Ukrainian vessels, the suspect installed several webcams at technological facilities near the local port. After installation, they were supposed to carry out continuous online broadcasting of sea and river traffic with the provision of remote access to the Russian special services,” the message says.

The SBU timely detected and deactivated the hidden video devices. The attacker was detained when he tried to install another webcam overlooking the river water area.

It is known that the Russian special services recruited an employee of a local company at the end of 2023.

Currently, the person involved has been informed of the suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law).
