Another 42 Russian violating vessels were included in the Defense Intelligence portal of the Ministry of Defense

The War&Sanctions portal has published information about new Russian vessels involved in grain theft, export of sanctioned oil, etc.

This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine ( MoD Defense Intelligence).

Thus, the War&Sanctions portal has added data on 42 vessels involved in the export of sanctioned Russian and Iranian oil, stolen Ukrainian grain and coal from temporarily occupied territories, as well as in bunkering vessels of the Russian shadow fleet.

Among them is a floating storage facility used by the sanctioned oil company Lukoil in the Caspian Sea to transship oil to tankers of the so-called “shadow fleet”.

“Under sanctions and diplomatic pressure, more and more states are canceling or refusing to register vessels involved in circumventing sanctions under their flags. In response, Russia is using fraudulent schemes: using false flags, creating fake maritime registers with fake websites, and forging registration documents,” the report says.

According to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), more than 300 ships in the world sail under false flags and with forged documents.

To combat this abuse, a new feature has been created on the War&Sanctions portal that displays fake vessel registration data. Information has already been published on more than 100 tankers of the Russian and Iranian “shadow fleet” that use false flags of Panama, Malawi, the Comoros Islands, Guinea, Palau and other countries.

“All such ships should be subject to a complete ban on any operations with them: servicing, calls to ports, territorial waters, free economic zones and international straits. Flag states and the IMO should strengthen control, identify violators, and inform the international community in a timely manner,” the GUR emphasized.

Today, the “Sea Vessels” section of the War&Sanctions portal contains information about more than 1,000 vessels and 155 captains involved in the transportation of weapons, stolen products from the occupied territories of Ukraine, evading sanctions, and other illegal activities.

We remind you that the portal was created in October 2024, in particular, to track Russian violating vessels.
