Attacks on the ports of Great Odesa and the Danube have worsened Ukraine’s export capabilities, — Agrarian Council

Russian attacks on the port infrastructure of Great Odesa and the Danube have significantly worsened Ukraine’s export capabilities.
Attacks on ports are also already having tangible consequences for the agricultural sector, said Deputy Chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council Denys Marchuk.
He specified that due to the intensification of attacks in December-January, agricultural export indicators have deteriorated sharply.
“In fact, we are 47% behind last year’s volumes. Currently, about 16 million tons have been exported, while last year for this period there were 6 million tons more,” he noted.
The production indicators of the agricultural sector remain strong, but farmers are losing profitability.
“In the 2025 marketing year, Ukraine harvested more than 58 million tons of grain and about 17.7 million tons of oilseeds. This is a good result, but without stable exports, these volumes turn into additional storage costs for farmers. Ukraine has not reached the planned export figures, which means a loss of foreign exchange earnings and farm income,” Marchuk noted.
He added that such conditions negatively affect the timely financing of commodity producers in preparation for the new sowing campaign.
“Due to the complexity of logistics, additional insurance costs and a drop in income, many farms are experiencing a shortage of working capital. The final price received by the producer is decreasing, and this directly affects his readiness for the spring campaign. The cost of sowing in 2026 may increase by approximately 15% compared to the previous year,” the deputy head of the Agrarian Council emphasized.
Earlier, USM reported that on January 15, the Russians attacked the port of Chornomorsk: a member of the ship’s crew was injured.
