Australia will hand over 14 highly maneuverable marine boats to Ukraine
Ukraine will receive 14 rigid-hull RHIB naval boats from Australia to strengthen maritime defense.
“Australia will present Ukraine with 14 hard-hull boats, underscoring the ongoing commitment of the Australian government to support Ukraine in its defense against the illegal invasion of the Russian Federation,” the Australian Ministry of Defense said.
These sea boats will provide Ukraine with high-speed and highly maneuverable sea capabilities.
The department emphasized that this round of military support worth $14 million will strengthen the maritime and coastal defense of Ukraine, which is an important operational area for the Armed Forces.
The assistance is provided as part of the ongoing commitment of the country’s government to support Ukraine in its defense against the illegal invasion of the Russian Federation.
“Ukraine demonstrated its ability to disrupt the ongoing attacks of the Russian Federation from the Black Sea. We are proud to be able to contribute to this vital maritime defense with this new package,” said Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Richard Marles.
It should be noted that, in total, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Australia has provided more than $1.3 billion in military support and more than $1.5 billion in general support to the government of Ukraine.
It will be recalled that in May of this year, the Australian government announced the purchase of military-class Sentinel 830R boats as part of military aid to Ukraine.
