Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Port and Maersk to launch ferry to Georgia

Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Sea Port and Maersk division have signed a memorandum and plan to launch a ferry route from Georgia.
This was announced by the head of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi MTP Oksana Kiktenko.
According to her, a memorandum was signed between the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi MTP and APM Terminals Poti (a division of Maersk) to work within the framework of the Trans-Caspian route.
“This is the first memorandum of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovsky Port on cooperation within the framework of the development of the international transport corridor – TMTM or “Middle Corridor”, – Oksana Kiktenko notes.
APM Terminals Poti is the owner of the largest port in Georgia – the seaport of Poti.
“The two private seaports will be connected by a new ferry route and a road-rail ferry complex, which is being designed by the new owner of the Ukrainian port, taking into account the requirements for handling cargo of the “Middle Corridor”, – the head of the port added.
It is noted that the purpose of the memorandum is to attract cargo traffic through the “Middle Corridor”, which will pass through the territory of Ukraine along a new railway route – Bessarabia Route (Ukraine-Moldova-Romania), the formation and development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two ports. Earlier, USM reported that the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi port will open a new transit route to the EU.
