Blockade of the Strait of Hormuz does not justify lifting sanctions on Russia, says Macron

The French President believes that the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz does not justify the lifting of sanctions against Russian oil.
He said this at a press conference following the online meeting of the Group of Seven on Wednesday, writes European Truth with reference to Le Figaro.
Faced with a rapid increase in oil prices, US President Donald Trump announced on Monday, March 9, that he was considering the possibility of lifting sanctions against Russian oil.
Answering a question on this subject, French President Emmanuel Macron noted that the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz “in no way justifies the lifting of sanctions” against Russia.
After participating in a teleconference of G7 leaders on the Middle East, the head of the European Council, Antonio Costa, also stated that anti-Russian sanctions should not be relaxed now.
As a reminder, the US president announced the lifting of “certain” oil sanctions amid a sharp jump in raw material prices due to the US and Israeli operation against Iran.
