Bloomberg: Russian oil enters the US through a loophole in the Bahamas

Russian oil can enter the United States through a terminal in the Bahamas.

The American oil refinery imported 10,000 barrels of Russian oil through a storage terminal in the Bahamas, writes Bloomberg.

US Energy Information spokesman Morgan Butterfield said the oil delivered in November to Wilmington, Delaware, did not violate US sanctions.

According to him, oil was exported from Russia to the Bahamas until March 8, 2022, when the sanctions came into effect. The oil was then mixed with other oil before being imported into the United States.

According to customs, the shipment arrived at the oil refinery of PBF Energy Inc. in Delaware. According to Butterfield, the importer clarified that the mixed barrels were partly of Russian origin.

In turn, the representative of the oil refinery, Michael Karlovych, said that the PBF cargo complies with US sanctions against Russia.

As previously reported by USM, the Turkish terminal can  send disguised Russian oil to the US military.
