“Breakthrough of the grain blockade” is actually not the first attempt- an expert
As of July 31, at least 16 vessels are anchored near Zmiinyi Island (mostly in Romanian territorial waters).
As Andrii Klymenko, the head of the Monitoring Group of the Institute of Black Sea Strategic Studies, noted, the “blockade breakers” came there a long time ago – already after the Russian Federation made its “barbaric statements.” In addition, according to Klymenko, several ships are currently on their way from the Bosphorus.
“They do not consider themselves heroes and “breakthroughs” – they are just normal sailors doing their job. I am sure that the Ukrainian and Romanian pilots, harbormasters and the Navy are doing what they need to do. And they don’t make a fuss,” Klymenko noted.

The expert also noted that the term “blockade” is not appropriate for Danube ports.
“Blockade is when warships obstruct the passage of ships, i.e. require them to stop, turn around, conduct inspections, etc. As far as I know, so far everything has been limited to warnings over the walkie-talkie in very poor English. And messages about mining. And everyone understood that they want to take the sailors lightly,” Klimenko summarized.
