Britain imposes sanctions on one of the largest operators of the “shadow fleet”

The UK government has announced the largest package of sanctions against Russia in four years since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

On February 24, Britain announced the largest package of sanctions against Russia, according to the country’s government website.

Thus, the new restrictions are aimed at Transneft, one of the world’s largest oil pipeline companies. It is responsible for transporting more than 80% of Russia’s oil exports.

Also under sanctions were 175 companies from the 2Rivers network, one of the largest operators of the “shadow fleet” in the world and a major trader of Russian oil.

In addition, the new sanctions package included 48 oil tankers transporting Russian oil.

The UK also imposed restrictions on six Russian LNG facilities, including vessels, traders and the Portovaya and Vysotsk terminals responsible for exporting Russian LNG.

USM previously reported that Ukraine has imposed new sanctions against the captains of tankers transporting Rosneft.
