British landing force practiced landing on offshore platforms near Russia

British commandos conducted a landing operation on oil and gas platforms in the Baltic region amid threats from Russia.
The British naval forces conducted a series of exercises on boarding and blocking of maritime infrastructure in the Baltic Sea. This was reported by the Royal Navy press service.

As part of the operation, British commandos, using landing boats supported by the flagship RFA Lyme Bay, landed on the island of Saaremaa (Estonia) for a training raid.

The landing was carried out as part of Exercise Baltic Dawn, the final phase of training for the new Special Operations Maritime Task Group (SOMTG), which is to become NATO’s rapid reaction force next year.

As USM wrote, the Swedish Prime Minister recently called for limiting the actions of the Russian submarine fleet in the Baltic Sea.
