Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey will soon start demining the Black Sea
A tripartite agreement on joint demining of the Black Sea between Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey is to be signed in Istanbul next week.
The demining mission will begin shortly after the signing of the agreement, Bulgarian Defense Minister Тодор Тагарєв Todor Tagarev said.
“We reached an agreement on the concept and the very text of the agreement – how to settle all the issues, and next week my deputy will be in Istanbul for the signing, and soon this mission will start,” Tagarev said.
According to the minister, work in this direction has been ongoing since the end of summer.
“The war started by Russia in Ukraine leads to risks for our territory, for the safety of shipping, and in order to minimize these risks, the navies of three countries are also involved in demining, hopefully successfully,” said Todor Tagarev.
