Bulgaria will lead NATO mine countermeasures group in the Black Sea

For the next six months, the leadership of the Mine Action Task Force in the Black Sea has passed from Turkey to Bulgaria.
The leadership of the Mine Action Task Force, established within the framework of the “trilateral initiative” of Turkey, Romania and Bulgaria, has passed to Bulgaria. This is reported by Ukrinform.
The transfer took place in the city of Varna, where the commanders of the naval forces of the three participating countries gathered.
Recall that the mine action group was created in 2023 at the initiative of NATO to strengthen security in the Black Sea. The memorandum on the establishment and operation of the task force was signed on January 11, 2024 in Istanbul. The signatory countries, Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey, agreed to change the command every six months.
Recently, USM reported that Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria will jointly combat pollution of the Black Sea with fuel oil.
