Canada will transfer 10 boats to Ukraine for maritime operations
Canada will hand over 10 Zodiac Hurricane multi-purpose boats to Ukraine by the end of spring.
The government estimates this aid package at about 20 million dollars, Canadian Defense Minister Bill Blair said at the 18th meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine in the Rammstein format.
“These motorized rigid-hull inflatable boats will assist Ukraine in a variety of maritime operations, including search and rescue, troop and cargo transportation, surveillance and reconnaissance. Each boat will be equipped with a sophisticated sensor, navigation and communication system,” the statement said.
Canada will also train the Ukrainian military to use the provided equipment. Training and delivery of the boats should be completed by the end of spring 2024.
As previously reported by the USM, three surface drones — Sea Baby, “Magura V5” and “Mamai” — are currently used for operations in the Black Sea.
