China and Turkey can deter the Russian Federation from attacks on Ukrainian ports, the expert said
At present, about 5% of the ships that enter Odesa ports belong to Chinese owners. Another 25%-30% – to shipowners from Greece and Turkey.
BlackSeaNews editor-in-chief Andriy Klymenko said this in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
According to him, in general, there are now shipowners from more than 25 countries in the Black Sea ports.
“We see not only an increase in the number of ships entering the ports of Greater Odessa, but also the number of ships entering repeatedly. This is approximately 65-70% of the total number of vessels. Some of them are already coming for the fifth, seventh time, and some have been 10 or 12 times,” the expert said.
Andriy Klymenko also noted that this shows that shipowners value the security situation quite highly.
“They would not risk ships worth millions and the lives of crew members,” he said.
In particular, about 5% of vessels belonging to Chinese owners enter the ports of Greater Odessa. It also plays the role of a kind of additional protection.
“Russia cannot fail to understand that if their missile hits a Turkish ship in port or during a sea crossing, they will have a difficult conversation with Erdogan. It seems that Russia does not really want such a conversation with Xi Jinping either,” concluded Andriy Klymenko.
We will remind you that Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey could maintain security in the Black Sea. This could potentially help countries protect their gas fields and protect commercial shipping in the region.
