China does not recognize russian ship insurance

A week before EU sanctions against Rosneft come into effect, China refuses to recognize insurance documents for ships from russia.

Russian shipowners are facing refusals in China to recognize insurance documents issued by russian insurers, said the deputy head of the Ministry of Transport, Alexander Poshivai.

It will be recalled that in May Great Britain and the European Union agreed on a coordinated ban on the insurance of vessels carrying russian oil.

USM previously wrote that russia’s use of outdated vessels for the “shadow” fleet led to an increase in accidents. In return, insurers avoid former clients in moscow.
