Complications in the import of fertilizers in Ukraine are predicted in the near future

Ukraine imported 23.5% more fertilizers in the first 7 months of 2025 than in the same period last year.
According to IA Infoindustria, 1.942 million tons of fertilizers were imported in the first 7 months, while last year it was 1.596 million tons.
“The conditional peak of minimum import volumes fell on May. At this time, importers observed the instability of the world nitrogen fertilizer market. From May to July, the volume of imports of key fertilizers (nitrogen) has only been growing. In June and July, imports of all types of fertilizers grew steadily,” the report says.
It is expected that imports will become more difficult in August and September, since there is a ban on sea imports of ammonium nitrate, prices are rising on the world market, and farmers have been very weak in buying fertilizers in the previous two months.
In particular, it became known that in the potash fertilizer import sector, sea import has replaced rail. Thus, in August and September, potash prices on the world market will gradually increase.
As previously reported by USM, the USPA told what measures are being taken against the background of restrictions on saltpeter transshipment in ports.
