The newest Ukrainian flagship left the RMK Marine shipyard for the first sea trials.

The Ukrainian corvette “Hetman Ivan Mazepa” went on sea trials near Turkey on May 29. This is reported by “Militarnyi”.

The corvette is armed with a 76-mm Super Rapid naval artillery installation manufactured by the Italian company OTO Melara. Also on the bow of the ship is the VL MICA naval anti-aircraft missile complex, the armament of which was announced back in March 2023.

A naval version of the Turkish 35 mm Korkut anti-aircraft gun from the Aselsan company is installed above the helicopter hangar. And on the left and right sides of the ship there are 12.7-mm remotely controlled STAMP installations.

Also visible are the Thales Sting EO MK2 fire control radar typical of Ada projects, the Aselsan satellite communications system, the ARES-2N electronic warfare system and the Mk 36 SRBOC dipole jamming system. In addition, the corvette has an ALPER tactical navigation radar, and for detecting air targets, the ship has a SMART-S MK2 3D radar.

As USM previously wrote, the “Hetman Ivan Mazepa” corvette should bacome part of the Navy in 2024.
