Customs officials prevented the illegal export of almost 600 tons of sunflower oil
The value of the cargo, which was transported under forged documents in 10 railway tank cars, is estimated at more than UAH 26 million.
Customs officers discovered the fact of illegal export of 597 tons of sunflower oil across the Ukrainian-Hungarian border. This was reported in the press service of the State Customs Service of Ukraine.
An entrepreneur from Odesa organized the export of products on the basis of foreign economic contracts, where the buyer was a Hungarian company. After a thorough examination of the documents, the customs officers turned to their foreign colleagues with an official request to verify the legality of the agreement.
The response revealed a violation: the actual location of the Hungarian company was indicated in the Czech Republic, and the “head” of the company mentioned in the documents had nothing to do with this company. This confirmed that the contracts were forged, and financial and economic activities were not conducted.
The value of the cargo transported in 10 railway tank cars is estimated at over 26 million hryvnias.
As a result, two protocols were drawn up against the Odesa businessman for violation of customs rules in accordance with Part 1 of Art. 483 of the Customs Code. The case will be referred to the court, and the sanction for this article provides for a fine in the amount of 50 to 100% of the value of the cargo with its confiscation.
In addition, customs officers informed law enforcement agencies about possible signs of a criminal offense.
Recently, USM wrote that the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office completed the investigation into the embezzlement of funds from the UMCC and Odesa Port Plant.
