Damage to port infrastructure from Russian attacks has already exceeded $850 million

The transport infrastructure has already suffered losses of $38.5 billion from Russian shelling and attacks.
This is stated in a new report by the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE).
Thus, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, significant losses have been suffered by the transport infrastructure:
• More than 26 thousand kilometers of roads have been damaged and destroyed, which is estimated at $28.3 billion;
• Losses in rail transport amount to $4.3 billion;
• Losses due to shelling of port infrastructure – $0.85 billion;
• Losses in the aviation industry – $2 billion.
The KSE added that the agro-industrial complex has also suffered significant destruction – losses amount to $10.3 billion. More than 130 thousand units of agricultural machinery have already been lost, and 4 million tons of grain storage have been destroyed or damaged.
Overall, the total direct damage caused to Ukraine’s infrastructure as a result of Russian aggression has reached almost $170 billion. Compared to the beginning of 2024, this figure has increased by $12.6 billion, which is a consequence of further destruction due to missile attacks and hostilities. USM previously reported that the Russians attacked port infrastructure in the Odesa region.
