Damages from Russian attacks on ports reach UAH 1 billion
Since the withdrawal of the Russian Federation from the Grain Agreement on July 18, 2023, the invaders have attacked Ukrainian ports more than 30 times with all types of weapons.
After the Black Sea Initiative was suspended due to Russian attacks, 200 port infrastructure facilities and 7 civilian ships were damaged. This was stated by the head of the USPA Yuriy Lytvyn at a meeting of the UGA, reports Latifundist..
As a result of the attacks, 5 workers of Ukrainian ports were killed. The previous losses from the shelling of the Rashits are estimated at 1 billion hryvnias.
At the same time, Ukraine continues to work on increasing the throughput capacity of ports. Thus, in Chornomorsk, the receipt of grain from motor vehicles increased 5 times compared to the pre-war period. Ports of Pivdennyi and Odesa are 30-40% loaded.
“We and the Ministry of Infrastructure are working on expanding the range of ships entering the ports. I mean, first of all, ferry and container transportation,” said Lytvyn.
Previously, USM wrote that 18 million tons of goods were exported to 32 countries of the world through the new Ukrainian sea corridor.
In general, more than 500 merchant ships have already passed through the new route from the ports of Great Odesa.
