Deutsche Bahn complains about the slow processing of Ukrainian grain in the EU
The German railway operator Deutsche Bahn complained that it could not fully use its capacity to export grain from Ukraine.
Deutsche Bahn stated that it cannot increase the volume of Ukrainian grain transportation due to EU border bureaucracy.
“We could drive even more if border crossing at the EU’s external border was faster,” the company’s spokesperson said in a comment to RND.
According to the speaker, it is necessary to expand and speed up the infrastructure and border processes at the external borders of the EU.
“In our opinion, centralized coordination – strategic and operational – will allow for the transportation of larger volumes of cargo by rail,” said a railway spokesman, adding that the demand for transport capacity is currently very high.
Deutsche Bahn Cargo, together with its subsidiaries in Poland and Romania, sends several echelons with Ukrainian grain to various European seaports every day.
