Dozens of dolphins died in March due to the actions of the Russian Navy

The main factor in the death of rare animals is the activity of Russian submarines and the work of enemy sonars.

In March of this year, several dozen dolphins died near the coast of the temporarily occupied Crimea and near Novorossiysk. This was stated by Ivan Rusev, director of the scientific research department of the “Tuzlivski lymany” NPP.

“In particular, the Azov seas that died during the war in the Russian-occupied waters of the Black Sea washed up on the shores of Odesa and Bulgaria. And this is a confirmation of the fact that the activity of enemy submarines and surface boats in that part of the Black Sea near Crimea, Novorossiysk, is the main factor in the continued death of rare Black Sea cetaceans,” Rusev wrote.

Among the dead dolphins there are contused animals with symptoms of sonar damage. Many of them are bottlenose dolphins.

The scientist noted that before the beginning of the great war, the release of dolphins ashore in March was a very rare phenomenon. Now, according to researchers’ estimates, taking into account the fact that the sea throws out only 5% of dead bodies, the real number already reaches several thousand animals.

As USM previously wrote, no less than 50,000 cetaceans died from the influence of the sonar of the Russian military fleet, as well as due to the pollution of the Black and Azov seas with rocket fuel.
