US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced this on World Food Day.
“Food systems and global food security are currently at a critical juncture. The combined impact of the global pandemic, the pressures of the climate crisis, high energy and fertilizer prices, and armed conflicts, including russia’s brutal war of aggression against Ukraine, have disrupted production and supply chains and dramatically increased global food insecurity, especially for the most vulnerable.” — noted Blinken.
He recalled that this year more than a hundred countries supported the Roadmap for Global Food Security, which includes measures to combat the crisis, including increasing fertilizer production and investing in climate-resilient agriculture.
