Egypt has sharply increased imports of Ukrainian wheat — almost 2 million tons since the beginning of the season

Although the total volumes decreased by 20% compared to the previous season, the main sales market – Egypt – on the contrary, significantly increased purchases.
In the first four months of the 2025/26 MY, Ukraine exported 6.2 million tons of wheat, which is 37% of the forecasted export volume. This is reported by APK-Inform.

From July to October, Egypt imported more than 1.8 million tons of Ukrainian wheat – almost three times more than a year earlier (659 thousand tons). In second place in terms of volumes – Indonesia (1.1 million tons, -13% compared to last year), and third place was taken by Algeria with 739 thousand tons (+63%).
In October, exports amounted to 1.5 million tons of wheat. Analysts predict that the total export potential of Ukrainian wheat in the 2025/26 MY will reach 16.7 million tons, which is 7% more than in the previous season. The expected wheat production this year is 22.7 million tons (+1%).
In contrast, as USM wrote, Turkey is reducing purchasing activity in the sunflower market.
