Egypt strengthens its position among the largest importers of Ukrainian wheat: share increased to 13%

Ukrainian wheat exports to Egypt have already exceeded the figures of the previous marketing year, and demand prices remain stable.

Egypt is increasing purchases of Ukrainian wheat and strengthening its position as one of the largest buyers. This is reported by ASAP Agri analysts.

From July to May of the 2024/25 marketing year, Ukraine exported 1.9 million tons of wheat to this country – 300 thousand tons more than in the same period last season. Egypt’s share in total exports increased from 10% to 13%.

In the first three weeks of June, Ukrainian exporters shipped almost 200 thousand tons of grain to Egypt. Thus, according to the results of the entire 2024/25 season, deliveries will exceed 2.1 million tons – against 1.7 million tons in the 2023/24 MY. This will allow Egypt to maintain its second place among the largest importers of Ukrainian wheat.

As of June 20, the demand prices for new crop food wheat with a protein of 11.5% on CIF Egypt terms are at $235/t. For comparison: a year ago, prices on this market were about $232/t.
