Evacuation of military equipment from the Russian Navy base in Tartus, Syria, has stopped
In the port of Tartus, no Russian ships and vessels are recorded near the piers, while the military equipment that is planned to be evacuated has stretched for almost a kilometer.
This was reported by the monitoring group “Crimean Wind” with reference to satellite imagery.
Also, 8 km west/southwest of the port of Tartus, the frigate “Admiral Grigorovich” (494) was spotted, moving very slowly. At the same time, the ship Sparta (IMO: 9268710) approached Tartus on January 5, but did not enter the port and “wound circles” nearby.
In addition, another participant in the “Syrian Express” – the ship Baltic Leader – entered the Mediterranean Sea and is heading east.
The monitoring group noted that Russia is transferring some of the weapons to Libya, but there are no sufficiently equipped bases there.
As previously reported by USM, the heads of European foreign ministries will discuss the fate of the Russian base in Tartus with the new Syrian authorities.
