Exports from Ukraine grew by 13.4% due to normalization of port operations


This year, Ukraine exported 87.2 million tons by sea transport, compared to 54.8 million tons last year.

As of December 26, Ukraine exported goods worth $41.043 billion. In 2023, exports amounted to only $36.1 billion, said the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.

“Of course, the result is primarily related to the normalization of the work of Ukraine’s seaports. By sea transport, as of now, we have exported 87.2 million tons, and in 2023 – 54.8 million tons. In total, exports in weight already amount to 129.2 million tons, compared to 100.3 million tons in 2023. An increase of 28.8%,” the minister said.

According to her, the leaders of exports in Ukraine are traditionally corn $4.9 billion, wheat $3.68 billion, iron ore $2.75, soybeans $1.29 billion.

“But the largest export product is still processing — sunflower oil — $5.073 billion,” emphasized Yulia Svyrydenko.

She also noted that metallurgical exports are being revived. Thus, this year Ukraine exported semi-finished iron products worth $927.5 million, hot-rolled products worth $802 million, cast iron worth $500 million, and pipes worth $577 million.

As previously reported by USM, according to the forecast, Ukraine expects to export grain and oilseed crops at the level of 46.9 million tons in the 2024/2025 marketing year (MY).
