Exports of Ukrainian agricultural products to the EU in 2023 amounted to $12.6 billion

In total, the supply of Ukrainian agricultural products to the European Union in 2023 amounted to $12.6 billion.

This is the second most valuable result since the independence of Ukraine — only $0.5 billion (-3.8%) less than the 2022 record figure of $13.1 billion.

As the deputy director of the National Research Center “Institute of Agrarian Economy” Mykola Pugachev, told, the commodity structure of supplies largely repeats the general one. In it, 82% is the export of grain and oil crops, oil and fats, residues of the processing industry.

It is also noted that for several years in a row, the European Union has been the main market for the sale of a number of different agro-food products from Ukraine.

According to him, in 2024 it is likely that restrictions on Ukrainian agricultural products will be maintained both by the EU as a whole and by its individual members — Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary.

“Currently, the European market still remains decisive for the formation of the final income of our agrarian exports, characterized by lower risks and more accessible logistics connections, however, as the actual experience of previous years has shown, this situation can change quite dynamically,” concluded Mykola Pugachev.

As previously reported by USM, Ukraine reached the pre-war level of exports by sea.
