Farmers from Bulgaria did not want to talk to the prime minister about grain imports
Bulgarian farmers refused to meet with the country’s Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov. The official suggested that they discuss the decision regarding the import of Ukrainian agricultural products.
“Farmers from Bulgaria are dissatisfied with the decision of the deputies to cancel the ban on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products. They sent a letter to Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov, in which they stated that they refuse to meet with him,” BNR writes.
The meeting was planned to be held on Saturday, September 16, a day before the beginning of the announced mass protests of Bulgarian farmers.
According to the Prime Minister, Bulgaria has no problems with importing three out of four grains from Ukraine, with the exception of sunflower and unrefined vegetable oil. Therefore, the state was ready to support producers who would suffer from the resumption of imports.
The official also noted that the farmers’ demands are general, do not relate to their real problems and are very far from reality.
