Farmers plan to increase the transportation of grain by rail to the port of Reni

Agrarians plan to transfer up to 100 wagons of grain per day to the port of Reni through the new Serpneve-1 — Basarabyaska border crossing.

The corresponding letter “Ukrainian Grain Association” sent to JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”, writes Rail.insaider with reference to the deputy director of the department of commercial work of UZ Valery Tkachev.

“Our farmers see this junction and the port of Reni as an alternative to the ports of Izmail and Great Odesa, where the work of the “grain corridor” is currently blocked. And this is an alternative to transit through the western border crossings of Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary,” Valery Tkachev explained.

He also said that Ukrzaliznytsia sent a letter to the railways of Moldova.

“We asked to consider the possibility of a discount on the transportation of grain cargoes and oil products, as well as other goods through this junction. I hope that Moldovan colleagues will consider this proposal and come to meet us,” the representative of UZ emphasized.
