Forged maritime documents were produced and issued in the Odesa region
In the Odesa region, the organizers of a scheme were exposed who made fake sea licenses and arranged “clients” to join ship crews.
This scheme allowed men of draft age to travel outside Ukraine without hindrance, the Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office reports.
According to the investigation, one of the suspects previously worked for a crewing company.
She organized the production of fictitious documents that were supposed to ensure legal crossing of the state border.
“She involved an acquaintance in her plan, who was engaged in further communication with the “clients”. The women offered services in the production and issuance of seafarer’s licenses, qualification certificates and certificates of completion of training in training centers,” the prosecutor’s office said.
After that, on the basis of “marine” documents, they arranged “clients” to join the crew of “river-sea” vessels that made voyages to foreign ports, thus ensuring the possibility of unhindered border crossing.
The cost of “services” was 7,000 US dollars.
It should be noted that two residents of the Odesa region were reported on suspicion of organizing the illegal crossing of persons across the state border and forging official documents (Part 3 of Article 332, Part 3 of Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Earlier, the SBU detained Ukrainian businessmen who helped the Russian Federation circumvent sanctions.
