Finland recorded underwater explosions in russian waters
Finnish seismologists recorded a number of underwater explosions in russian waters.
The Finnish Seismological Institute reported on four earthquakes recorded last week 30 km from the border with russian federation, in its territorial waters.
According to the institute, on October 20 in the Gulf of Finland there were four shocks with a force of 1.3 to 1.8 on the Richter scale, Ilta-Sanomat reports.
Seismologists classified tremors as explosions or collapses.
“Their location has been established and identified. These are explosion signals. These are definitely not earthquakes,” noted seismologist Jari Kortström, and added that another explosion was also recorded the next day, October 21.
According to Kortström, the cause of the explosions in the territorial waters of Russia could be the deepening of the shipping channel. But the specialist does not rule out conducting military exercises during which the Russian Federation can detonate depth charges or mines.
At the end of September, Finnish seismological stations also recorded similar tremors on the Nord Stream pipelines “Nord Streams”. Denmark, Sweden and Norway believe that there was a consequence of the explosions. At the beginning of October, four earthquakes were also recorded near the Danish island of Lese, the origin of which scientists have not yet been able to establish.
