Former Deputy Minister of Agricultural Policy accused of fraud worth UAH 27 million

A former government official and a regional state administration official are suspected of fraud with state aid worth UAH 27 million.

The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office announced the completion of a pre-trial investigation into the former Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and the former Deputy Head of the Regional State Administration. This was reported by the Prosecutor’s Office press service.

Both officials are suspected of abuse of office and official forgery, which caused losses to the state in the amount of more than UAH 27 million.

The investigation established that in 2018, the then head of one of the departments of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, who later became the deputy minister, in collusion with the deputy head of the regional state administration, ensured the illegal allocation of financial support to an enterprise in the field of plant growing.

Compensation in the amount of UAH 27 million was allegedly allocated for the purchase of planting material. However, as it turned out, there were no purchases – the seedlings were a contribution to the company’s authorized capital by the founder, and not purchased with the company’s funds.

Earlier, USM reported that the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office had completed a pre-trial investigation into corruption at the Odessa Port Plant.
