Former head of the port fleet of the Kherson port sentenced to 12 years in prison

A Kherson resident, who was the head of the port fleet in the Kherson port and collaborated with the occupiers, received a sentence.
On March 3, the Kherson City Court sentenced the occupation head of the Kherson seaport unit, Mykola Kharitonov, the “Most” reports.
Before the start of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Kharitonov worked as the acting head of the port fleet of the Kherson seaport, and before that, as a replacement assistant captain.
According to the court, in July 2022, Kharitonov received the position of head of the port fleet in the port of Kherson from the occupation authorities. While in this position, the man organized interaction with other units of the occupied port, was responsible for the maintenance and repair of vessels, controlled the movement of captured vessels, etc.
Kharitonov also participated in the construction of a pontoon crossing across the Dnieper River near the village of Antonivka. In particular, he supervised the delivery, repair and modernization of the stolen barges, after which he ordered the tugboat captains to build a pontoon ferry. The collaborator also prepared the coast and water area of the Dnieper for the construction of the ferry.
Mykola Kharytonov was found guilty in absentia under Part 1 of Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (assistance to an aggressor state). The court sentenced him to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
Earlier, USM reported that the Russians had appointed a “director” of the Kherson ports that were not under their control.
