Forward grain contracts have returned to Ukraine

For the first time since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, forward contracts for grain have returned.

In Ukraine, forward contracts for grain and oil crops are being restored. Vadym Miroshnichenko, head of Cargill’s sales department, said this at Grain Ukraine 2024, Latifundist reports.

“Last year at this time, we had a full grain terminal and 4 ships were standing in the Bosphorus, but they could not enter, we were not talking about forwarders. Now the Black Sea is working, there is predictability and stability, accordingly, forward contracts are appearing,” he commented.

The commercial director of “Kernel Trade” in Ukraine Oleksandr Golovin said that the company has resumed forward programs not only for oil crops, but also for wheat.

“Today, it is possible to forward products not only on the terms of delivery to the terminal. We will forward even on Franko’s terms – an elevator with a link to the exchange rate,” Golovin clarified.
