France initiates meeting of ministers of the Coalition of the Willing on Russia’s shadow fleet

Emmanuel Macron proposes holding a separate meeting of ministers of the Coalition of the Willing to strengthen measures against the “shadow fleet”.
French President Emmanuel Macron called on the countries of the Coalition of the Willing to increase sanctions pressure on Russia and coordinate efforts to counter its “shadow fleet”. He stated this during the opening of the plenary session of the Coalition of the Willing, writes“Ukrinform”.
“We must redouble our efforts on sanctions and strengthen our coordination, while avoiding any risk of escalation. Our defense and foreign ministers are already working on this, and I propose that we convene a ministerial meeting in a few weeks dedicated to the fight against the shadow fleet to make sure that we do this wherever we can,” he said.
According to Macron, Russia may try to increase pressure on European countries to force them to reduce support for Ukraine. He warned of a possible increase in Russian provocations and expressed solidarity with the states that have already become their targets.
“Provocations will multiply. We must continue what we have started to do in NATO to ensure a strong position, but the point is very clear to me: ‘Keep calm and carry on,’” the head of state added.
Earlier this month, the UK expanded sanctions against Russia, focusing on energy exports, the “shadow fleet”, the financial sector and the defense industry.
