France let the Russian “Petr I” frigate into the port despite the sanctions
The French authorities allowed the Russian sailing ship “Standart” to dock in the port of La Rochelle.
On the night of August 6, the Russian sailboat “Standart” entered the port of La Rochelle on the southwestern coast of France. This is reported by the French media Capital.
Permission to enter La Rochelle was granted by the authorities of the department of Charente-Maritime. The ship is said to have called at a French port to resupply and refuel, despite a ban on entering EU ports.
Reference: “Standart” is a three-masted frigate, which is a replica of a ship that belonged to the Russian Tsar Peter I. The ship was built in 1999. Until June 2024, the frigate flew under the flag of the Russian Federation, until it was changed to the flag of the Cook Islands.
Previously, the Russian Federation constantly promoted sailboats to European maritime festivals. One such event is held in Brest, France. Russians were banned from entering Brest and participating in the festival last month.
Previously, USM wrote that the captain of the Russian vessel was fined 8,000 euros for violating EU sanctions.
