Freight from Ukraine is becoming more expensive in the Panamax and Handysize segments

The Black Sea shipping market is recording an increase in rates for large and medium tonnages.

The Black Sea freight market has been supported by new applications for cargo shipments for the end of August – beginning of September. ASAP Agri writes about this.

According to analyst Pavlo Lysenko, owners of Handysize and Panamax vessels are raising rates, while there have been no significant changes in the Coaster segment.

In particular, the freight of Panamax vessels for the transportation of corn from Ukrainian deep-water ports to South China is estimated at 45-46 US dollars per ton, which is 1 dollar more compared to the previous week.

In the Handysize segment, the shipment of 30 thousand tons of corn to the East Coast of Italy increased by 1 dollar – to 19-20 dollars/ton.

In contrast, Coaster rates for consignments of 6 thousand tons of corn from Ukrainian Danube ports to Italy remain at the level of 31-32 dollars/ton. Barge transportation rates also remain stable: transporting 1–3 thousand tons of corn from Izmail or Reni to Constanta is estimated at 13 euros per ton.

Also, the day before, USM reported that the port of Pivdennyi had fulfilled its annual transshipment plan, having processed 9 million tons of cargo.
