Freight rates in the Danube and Great Odesa ports have stabilized


Vessel freight rates for the transportation of grain from the Black Sea remained unchanged.

As of February 9, rates for the transportation of 6,000 tons of corn by tankers from the ports of Reni and Izmail in all key directions remained at the level of last week. This was reported in UGA with reference to Atria Brokers.

So, the freight rates for the main directions are:

• in the direction of Marmara — $27-28/t;

• to the eastern coast of Greece — $31-32/t;

• to the Eastern Mediterranean — $35-36/t;

• to the east coast of Italy — $40-42/t;

• in the direction of Spain — $46-48/t;

• to Spanish Seville — $48-50/t.

A decrease in rates was observed only in the direction of Israel — to $42-44/t (by $4-5/t).

The cost of transporting grain by panamax from the ports of Great Odesa to China was fixed at $65-66/t, to Bangladesh at $61-63/t.

The freight rates for the transportation of corn in handy sizes are:

• to the Mediterranean coast of Egypt — $30-31/t;

• in the direction of Italy — $32-33/t;

• to the Mediterranean coast of Spain — $33-35/t;

• in the direction of Tunisia — $37-38/t.

Rates for the delivery of corn by barge to Constanta reach 14-15 €/t. The rates for sunflower transportation to Ruse/Silistra (Bulgaria) are 20-21 €/t.

Recently, USM wrote that analysts of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) increased the forecast of wheat and corn exports from Ukraine in 2023/2024 MY.

Also, the day before, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that in January, Ukraine returned to pre-war exports by sea.
