FT: Sanctions prevent Russia from exporting LNG from Arctic LNG 2
Foreign journalists note that Western sanctions scare away buyers of Russian gas, so the terrorist country is forced to store LNG from its flagship Arctic project.
The Financial Times writes about it.
Since the start of loading operations last month, three vessels have shipped LNG from Arctic LNG 2.
One of the vessels, the Everest Energy, is believed to have unloaded at the floating storage facility Saam FSU, anchored in a bay in the Murmansk region of northern Russia. After that, it headed back towards Arctic LNG 2. Two other batches also remained in Russian or European waters and were not transferred to the buyer.
According to Kpler analysts, this situation “highlights the challenges Russia faces in finding buyers for its LNG under sanctions.”
Experts agree that due to US sanctions, the probability that European countries or Western allies will import gas from the Arctic project is small.
However, sanctions are unlikely to be able to completely prevent LNG from entering countries outside this group. Therefore, the most likely buyers are those who are not part of the “sanctions coalition” of Russia, the largest of which are India and China.
USM previously reported that the US had imposed restrictions against vessels carrying gas from Arctic LNG 2.
