Georgia denied the news about russian cruises through the port of Batumi

The information of rossMI about summer cruises from Novorossiysk to Istanbul was denied by the Georgian authorities.

The “Vestnyk Kavkaza” publication with a russian domain published news about the preparation of the first cruise of the motor ship “Pyotr Velikiy”. The ship’s route was supposed to run from Novorossiysk to Istanbul via Batumi, informs the information portal “News Georgia”.

The Maritime Transport Agency of Georgia denied these announcements.

“Georgia does not have sea passenger or cruise connections with russia. “The widespread information about the possible arrival of the russian cruise liner “Pyotr Velikiy” in the port of Georgia in 2023 is completely false,” the agency said.

A similar refutation was published by the Maritime Transport Agency at the beginning of the year, when they announced the preparation of launching a sea passenger service between Sochi and Batumi.

Previously, USM reported that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of russian federation in Ukraine, all foreign cruise ships have abandoned the contracts the contracts they had previously concluded with the Sochi seaport.
