Government officials inspected the modernized vessel of the UDS “Captain Antypov”

Representatives of the Ministry of Development visited the Danube region and inspected the first modernized UDS vessel.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company.

“For decades, the modernization of the UDS fleet has only been talked about. Our team has shown a successful result for the first time. Modernization is not just the only way to develop, it is the only possibility for the further existence of the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company,” the report says.

The continuation of the modernization project is possible under several conditions: cooperation with the IFC, as well as preventing the rollback of UDS reforms.

Deputy Minister on res Timur Tkachenko emphasized that thanks to modernization, downtime is minimized, the need for repairs disappears, fuel consumption is reduced – the profitability of transportation increases.

“The UDS fleet is outdated, vessels such as “Captain Antypov” spend an average of 30% of the time in operation, 70% – in repairs. The best option for recovery is modernization, building new vessels is 3-4 times more expensive,” the deputy minister added.

It should be noted that “Captain Antypov” already makes regular voyages. It is currently preparing to be loaded with iron ore raw materials in order to deliver Ukrainian products to consumers in European countries as part of a barge caravan.

Earlier, USM reported that at the end of October, the first modernized UDS vessel began operating. Meanwhile, work is underway at the ÖSWAG shipyard to modernize the second vessel of the same type, Fedir Riabinin.
