The UN has warned that Ukraine may not be able to meet future grain needs due to Russia’s constant attacks on food and port infrastructure.

Matthew Hollingsworth, the representative of the World Food Program (WFP) in Ukraine, stated this at the meeting of the UN Security Council, Independent writes.

According to him, Ukraine may not be able to meet domestic and export demand for wheat in the coming years if Russia’s attacks on its export routes and facilities continue.

“If the attacks on food infrastructure and the blocking of sea export routes continue, this will dramatically affect the outlook for agricultural production in the coming years and, in the worst case scenario, could lead to wheat production not being able to meet domestic and export demand,” Matthew stressed. Hollingsworth.

Thus, since mid-July 2023, 31 attacks on Ukrainian grain production and export enterprises have been recorded. Of these, only 28 Russian attacks occurred in the Odesa region, which is home to critical terminals on the Black Sea and the Danube, necessary for world trade.
