Grain from Ukraine: 150 million dollars have already been collected
As part of the Grain from Ukraine initiative, it was possible to collect almost 150 million dollars.
Yesterday, November 26, the first International Food Security Summit for Grain from Ukraine took place. As part of the initiative, about 60 ships with grain will depart from Ukrainian ports. Each such vessel will provide food for 90,000 people, according to the official Telegram channel of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
More than 20 countries have already supported the initiative. In particular, on the eve of the summit, Belgium joined Grain from Ukraine, providing funding for humanitarian food supply. Together with partner countries, Ukraine has already collected almost 150 million dollars for the initiative.
“Thanks to such joint efforts, millions of people in the poorest countries of Africa and Asia will be saved from hunger and related social cataclysms. Ukraine has always been and will remain the guarantor of world food security, and even in the harsh conditions of war, Ukrainian leadership works for global stability,” Zelenskyy commented.
“Our humanitarian initiative Grain from Ukraine, together with the current grain export initiative, are absolutely timely and powerful responses to the threat created by russia,” added the President. “I believe that our joint response – Ukraine and partners – will be enough to alleviate the acuteness of the food crisis and save millions of people from hunger, and therefore dozens of countries – from social chaos.”
Earlier, the US government announced the allocation of up to $20 million for the implementation of the Grain from Ukraine initiative.
