Great Britain announces new sanctions against the Russian shipping sector

On Tuesday, June 17, the UK announced further sanctions against Russia over the war in Ukraine.
This was reported on the country’s government website.
It is noted that four individuals, six legal entities and 20 vessels, including oil tankers, were hit by the new restrictions. The sanctions include companies related to maritime transport and suppliers of goods to Russia, in particular electronics.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is expected to outline the details of the sanctions at the G7 summit in Canada. He intends to call on G7 partners to work together to reduce Russia’s energy revenues and “reduce the funds it can invest in its illegal war.”
As a reminder, Britain has already imposed sanctions on more than 2,300 individuals, legal entities and vessels as part of sanctions against Russia since its invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
We previously reported that Switzerland imposed sanctions against 189 Russian vessels.
