Great Britain transferred geodetic equipment and cartographic software to Ukraine.

The British Hydrographic Service handed over equipment to Ukraine to support safety at sea, according to the website of the British government.

The value of the transferred equipment is 1.6 million pounds sterling (over 1.9 million US dollars).

Support from partners includes two full-fledged single-beam and two multi-beam echo sounder systems that will be used for hydrographic research.

These echo sounders allow to collect accurate data about the seabed and marine environment. The data can then be processed and used to create and update nautical charts and navigational information to support safe navigation in the area.

The equipment provided by the British Hydrographic Office will contribute to the protection of Ukrainian ports and shipping lanes in the Black Sea.

The State Hydrographic Office of Ukraine also offered training on specialized courses from the Hydrographic Office and the Royal Navy of Great Britain.
