Great Britain is ready to protect Ukraine’s ports and airspace

London has said it is ready to take on a key role in Ukraine’s security after a possible cessation of the war launched by Russia.

The UK is ready to provide protection for Ukrainian airspace and seaports, The Guardian reports reports.

The commander of the British armed forces, Admiral Tony Radakin, will announce this at the Pentagon on August 20 during consultations with the American side.

The meeting at the headquarters of the US Department of Defense is dedicated to the final coordination of the commitments of the “Coalition of the Willing”, which includes more than 30 countries. It is about security guarantees for Ukraine in the event of a ceasefire.

It is expected that Radakin will confirm that the UK will send troops to support Ukrainian forces in the field of logistics and training, but they will not participate in combat operations against Russia.

The initial plan, which provided for the involvement of 30 thousand military personnel to protect strategic objects in Ukraine, was reduced due to the resistance of some European countries.

As USM wrote, the day before, the Russians damaged port infrastructure in the Izmail district.
