Greece can become Ukraine’s partner in the restoration and development of the maritime industry

Greek companies presented their investment opportunities in the reconstruction of Ukraine, in particular in the restoration of the maritime industry.
The reconstruction and involvement of Greek business in the processes were discussed during the Ukrainian-Greek business forum, the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine reports.
In particular, the ministry considers Greece as a partner in the restoration and development of the maritime industry.
Deputy Minister Maryna Denysiuk emphasized that Greece provided practical support in creating safe and reliable alternative routes to counter the blockade of Black Sea ports.
“The use of Greek ports – Thessaloniki and Alexandroupolis – as additional destinations for the export of Ukrainian grain demonstrates the strength of this strategic partnership,” Maryna Denysiuk noted.
In particular, Greece, according to the official, as one of the largest maritime powers in the world in terms of fleet tonnage, is interested in maritime transportation from Ukrainian ports. This partnership is important for supporting global food security.
“Restoring maritime and port infrastructure is of crucial importance to us. In early 2024, Ukraine and Estonia jointly developed a Plan for the Reconstruction of Ukraine’s Maritime Connectivity with a budget of over 550 million euros. We are ready to present it to our Greek partners,” said Maryna Denisyuk.
It should be noted that the forum was attended by representatives of 10 Greek companies: Metlen Energy & Metals, GEK Terna, Viohalco–Steelmet–Elvalhalcor, Onex Group/Hellenic Shipyards Assosiation, Endeavour Integrated Solutions, DP Pumps Manufacturers, Spirit World Group, Elmon, NKLAW Firm, Samaras & Partners Group of Companies.
